Marlémarla (Fish Poison Tree)

It has special knowledge for us to keep strong law and strong culture. It is another tool that is used in a special way to educate our people. It involves care and attention to health and safety.

The Three Special Canoes

They represent our people travelling and learning together at the same time. This is a process of sharing which brings everyone together.

The Two Fish

The Two Fish represents the Moities, Giant Trevally being Yírriddjanga and Salmon Herring (Milkfish) being Djówanga. These are all represented in the Míddjarn song line and includes everybody.

The Fishing Net

The special fish net is a tool used to collect the fish and it represents people working together for each other, sharing resources and looking after the elders. The woven net represents strong ties needed for working together.

Malála, The Mangrove Tree

The tree Malála on the left represents the mouth of the Liverpool River and part of the Lúrra story. It is a dreaming totem for the Ndjébbana people. The mangrove provides us with health food – mangrove worm, crag, nornda (cone shell), and periwinkle.
